The School Uniform HomepageThis site is dedicated to those who appreciate traditional school uniform, particularly traditional English school uniform. It's a very new site and consequently still under construction, if you would like to make contibutions or suggestions as to format or content please feel free to do so.

I intend that it should apeal to boys and girls of all ages who appreciate the special qualities of traditional school uniform, those who like wearing it or seeing others wearing it. Especially where that uniform includes the wearing of plimsolls.

A brief history

Essentially thought of as an English form of schoolwear, English uniform style has influenced school uniforms as far away as Australia and Singapore. Many Spanish and Japanese girls still wear a uniform closely resembling the English uniform. The style began to take form in the 1920's and 30's, was ubiquitous in the 40's and 50's but then, sadly, went into rapid decline in the 1960's. Today there are only a handful of private schools in Britain that could be said to insist on full uniform and most of those are probably in Scotland.

Gym outfit The site has been open now for a year. In that time a number of people ranging in age from 24 to 54 have contacted me using the Guestbook or by email, all expressing their interest in school uniform and/or plimsolls.

If sufficient parties show an interest we will consider starting a 'Club' so, If you are interested then why not contact me?
